President Petro's message to Miguel Uribe Turbay: "I want you to recover and hug your children again."

President Petro's message to Miguel Uribe Turbay: "I want you to recover and hug your children again."
During his visit to the Sierra de Chiribiquete National Park (Guaviare), President Gustavo Petro again referred to the attack suffered a week ago in Bogotá by Senator and presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay and sent a message to his family.
"I want him to recover and hug his children again. I don't want any more people dead here in Colombia. We've never been friends, distant friends, but now we're the opposition," the president said during the presentation of the documentary Chiribiquete: Traces of the Past.
The president took advantage of the opportunity to remember the legacy of former President Julio César Turbay , the senator's grandfather, and his mother, Diana Turbay.
"I do remember that her grandfather, who was physically a great rival of ours in ancient times, began to build peace in 1978, around the time of the security statute. His daughter was a great advocate for dialogue and peace," he added in his speech.

Later, he noted that Senator Uribe Turbay's relatives, through Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez, informed him that his recovery is showing signs of improvement.
"(They say) that what's happening with his health right now can't be explained by science. According to science, he should be brain-dead, but what's happening is that he's recovering. I hope he makes it," President Petro said.
He also stated that the recovery of the senator and pre-candidate should be seen as a symbol of unity among Colombians, regardless of their political affiliation.
"It can't be explained by science. So they give me a fact that depends on beliefs, but the prayers of the people, everyone who supports the government and those who don't, that energy provides what science can't. In other words, the senator is recovering because the Colombian people want him to recover, and this is an effort of unity," he concluded.
The senator's latest medical report
In the latest statement issued by the Santa Fe Foundation regarding the senator's health, they indicated that he remains under multidisciplinary care in the intensive care unit, with hemodynamic and neurological monitoring.
"He is responding to the treatment provided, reflected in a slight decrease in his intracranial pressure, with cerebral perfusion values tending toward stability," the medical center reported on Friday.

They add that if this clinical progression continues, "a new brain imaging follow-up will be performed in the coming days" to evaluate changes, findings, and reassess the injuries. "Mr. Uribe Turbay remains in critical clinical condition with a reserved neurological prognosis," they conclude.
Likewise, this Saturday, dozens of the congressman's supporters gathered in front of the Santa Fe Foundation to pray and express their support for María Claudia Tarazona, the pre-candidate's wife.
With candles, religious images, and messages of support, those in attendance expressed their solidarity and supported the politician's family while he remains under medical care.
